Chesapeake Professional Women's Network, Inc. Privacy Policy

Chesapeake Professional Women's Network, Inc. ("CPWN") has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to the privacy and security of information concerning our members and visitors to our Web site. The following discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for our organization and for CPWN Web site: http://www.cpwnet.org.

Registration Information

Upon registering with CPWN, via our Web site, by mail, or at a CPWN event, our organization may request individual name, organization name, and preferred contact information such as postal address, telephone or facsimile number, e-mail address, or Internet site URL.

Use of the Information

The information you provide to CPWN is used to contact our members, and in keeping with the mission of CPWN, this information is used to facilitate member networking. The information collected is included in the online membership directory. (Members are given the option upon registration to have membership information included/excluded in directory).

However, because CPWN is committed to preventing the "spamming" (sending unsolicited commercial e-mail) of members by third parties, CPWN does not otherwise disseminate member information to third parties.

E-mail Lists

Members are automatically added to CPWN's e-mail list upon registration. Users may be removed from this list by making a request via e-mail ( CPWN@comcast.net ) or in writing to our post office box (P.O. Box 1264, Abingdon, Maryland 21009).

Use of IP Addresses

CPWN Web site collects aggregate information site-wide, including anonymous site statistics. The Web site logs domain names and/or IP addresses for system administration purposes. These statistics enable CPWN to know which aspects of the CPWN site are popular and those which are not.

Cookies

CPWN Web site does not currently use "cookies" technology, but we reserve the right to do so in the future. A cookie is information about the Web site visit, which the web browser receives from the Web site, and then stores on the visitor's hard drive. The Web site then "reads" the information each time the user visits the site. This information includes the visitor's Internet Service Provider, the kind of computer and software used, the originator's Web site, as well as which files were accessed and the amount of time spent on each page.

This information is used to track visits to the Web site to learn what visitors like and dislike about the site, and to personalize the site so that options the user selects at the first visit can be used automatically for each successive visit. As such, the information collected does not usually identify a specific individual.

Links

This site contains links to other Web sites. CPWN is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these sites.

Security and Access

CPWN maintains appropriate safeguards to ensure the security, integrity, and privacy of the information provided by its members. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security.

CPWN has sole control over its membership list and access to the list except where the member has given permission to be included in the online membership directory.

Notification of Changes

As CPWN creates new services that may trigger a need to amend this privacy statement, we will notify you of such changes through a CPWN announcement. We will also flag such changes on CPWN's home page.
